KDE Buku ini menerangkan cara pengoperasian sistem Graphical User Interface (GUI) yang digunakan pada WinBI. Sistem GUI K Desktop Environment (KDE) digunakan pada WinBI akan dijelaskan pada buku ini. ASP adalah singkatan dari Active Server Pages yang merupakan salah satu bahasa pemograman web untuk menciptakan halaman web yang dinamis. ASP merupakan salah satu produk tekhnologi yang disediakan oleh Microsoft. ASP diproses melalui web server dan hasil proses ini menghasilkan HTML yang akan dikirimkan melalui browser. ASP bekerja pada web server dan merupakan server side scripting. Berbeda dengan VBScript yang bekerja pada client atau disebut juga client side scripting. Meskipun demikian ASP mengunakan VBScript sebagai bahasa dasar untuk pemogramannya.

ASP sangat mudah dipelajari. Yang diperlukan hanyalah mengenal HTML dan VBScript. Dengan ASP anda bisa membangun aplikasi web yang dinamis. ASP juga dikenal sangat populer bersaing dengan PHP serta yang web language yang lainnya seperti Java Servlet, Cold Fusion, dll. ASP semakin dikenal luas tepatnya sejak maret 1997. ASP semakin populer karena mudah untuk dipelajari.

DHCP Server adalah sebuah mesin yang melayani permintaan alamat IP maupunkonfigurasi jaringan secara dinamis program ini dibuat oleh Ted Lemon yang bekerja untuk VixieLabs, dengan DHCP Server ini anda tidak perlu lagi untuk mengkonfigurasikan jaringan pada sisiclient, anda cukup mengkonfigurasikan DHCP Server anda maka konfigurasi alamat ip, gatewaybahkan nameserver pada sisi client tidak perlu dilakukan lagi.

Layanan ini bisa juga diberikan kepada suatu komputer dengan kriteria tertentu, misalnyasaja berdasarkan alamat MAC Address Network Card ataupun berdasarkan hostnamenya. Untukdapat menggunakan DHCP Server maka anda harus mempunyai program yang dapat memintalayanan DHCP Server ini salah satunya adalah dhclient yang juga dibuat oleh Ted Lemon. Untuk menghemat dana biasanya dalam suatu jaringan hanya mempunyai satu ataubeberapa Printer yang kemudian Printer tersebut akan menjadi Printer Server dan akan melayanirequest dari client yang tergabung dalam jaringan tersebut. Tentu saja dengan pendekatan seperti inidana yang dibutuhkan akan jauh lebih murah karena Printer tersebut bisa dipakai secara bersamasehingga tidak perlu ada tambahan dana lagi untuk membeli printer untuk setiap komputer. Dalamsebuah perusahaan besar biasanya akan memiliki beberapa printer server untuk menghemat waktuyang terbuang jika printer server sangat sibuk karena harus menunggu Job Queue dari printer.

Banyak sekali aplikasi yang bisa digunakan untuk membuat sebuah printer Server ini danbiasanya setiap sistem operasi sudah mampu untuk menangani â€œNetwork Printerâ€ baik yangmenggunakan protokol IPP/HTTP, Samba, LPD Queue ataupun TCP. Dalam kesempatan kali inikita hanya akan membahas bagaimana membuat sebuah printer server dengan samba sertabagaimana mengkonfigurasikannya dari sisi client, penulis mengasumsikan bahwa samba serta KDEsudah terinstall baik pada Linux anda, penulis juga mengasumsikan bahwa anda sudah sedikit tahubagaimana cara mengkonfigurasikan samba karena samba tidak akan dibahas secara mendetail padatutorial ini. Postgres memang bukan satu-satunya database server yang menawarkan feature di atas. Tapi Postgressudah sejak awal memberikannya. Para perancangnya begitu komitmen terhadap perkembangan Postgres dan kini iatelah digunakan secara meluas untuk berbagai macam aplikasi di banyak platform.

Berangkat dari apa yang dialami Postgres, penulis mencoba untuk menerapkannya sebagai database server untukberbagai aplikasi Linux yang dibuat. Dalam perjalanan penggunaannya, penulis senantiasa membuat catatan-catatankecil yang berkaitan dengan instalasi, konfigurasi, atau penemuan-penemuan lainnya. Catatan ini kemudian dikompilasimenjadi sebuah artikel kecil, pada awalnya. Seiring perjalanan waktu dalam pengembangan sistem di berbagaiproyek database, artikel kecil itu kini telah membesar dan menjadi sebuah buku kecil. Dari catatan, artikel, dan kinibuku sebenarnya hanya sebuah dokumentasi yang telah menjadi rujukan bagi penulis untuk hal-hal sama yang pernahditemui. Kalau ternyata tulisan ini telah menjadi pengisi di tengah lengangnya tulisan tentang Postgres di Indonesia,maka itu sudah merupakan nilai tambah tersendiri yang semoga - bermanfaat bagi para programmer negeri ini, danmasyarakat luas pada umumnya.menambah keamanan penggunaan sistem.

ops adalah channel operators (orang2 yang memiliki tanda @ di depan nicknya). Sebagai channel operator, Anda dapat KICK/BAN seseorang, mengganti topic, dan lain-lain. Berikut adalah beberapa diantaranya:

6. Masalah-masalah server
Pada saat ini, Anda sudah siap untuk ber-IRC. Secara umum, perintah-perintah yang diberikan di atas sudah cukup untuk pemula, tapi apa saja dapat terjadi di dalam ber-IRC.
Net Split
Network bisa terpisahkan (disebut dengan “netsplit”), sehingga Anda akan terpisahkan dengan pemain-pemain lain. Split ini biasanya hanya sebentar, tetapi terkadang juga dapat memakan waktu sampai berhari-hari.
Lag
Gangguan yang paling umum adalah “lag”, dimana terjadi semacam hambatan (”delay”) antara waktu saat Anda mengetikkan suatu kalimat, dan waktu saat pemain lain membacanya. Memilih server yang dekat dengan Anda dapat mengurangi lag. Lag dapat diukur dengan menggunakan perintah /ping (lihat bagian perintah di atas). Hal ini dapat ditanggulangi dengan mengganti server Anda, dengan menggunakan perintah /server nama.server.di.sini.
Daftar Server
Di client-client pada umumnya, bila Anda mengetikkan /links akan memberikan daftar server-server yang ada di net Anda. Jangan menggunakan perintah ini secara berlebihan (paling banyak 2 kali berturut-turut), atau Anda akan dituduh untuk melakukan “link looking”.
Ping? Pong!
Untuk para pengguna mIRC: Ping? Pong! di status Anda artinya server Anda baru saja melakukan “ping” kepada client Anda dengan tujuan untuk melihat apakan Anda masih berhubungan dengan server, dan Anda secara otomatis menjawab dengan “pong”. Tidak perlu dikhawatirkan.
Sekali lagi, DCC Chat
Perintah DCC Chat dapat digunakan untuk menjalin hubungan langsung dengan satu orang yang bebas lag dan tidak akan diputuskan oleh netsplit. Periksa dokumentasi Anda untuk hal ini. Pada client-client umum, Anda dapat menjalin hubungan dcc dengan mengetikkan perintah /dcc chat nick_kawan_anda. Untuk berbicara dengan kawan Anda melalui hubungan itu, Anda dapat menggunakan perintah /msg =nick pesan_anda_di_sini (perhatikan tanda =). Di mIRC, Anda dapat melakukan DCC Chat dengan memilih DCC dan Chat dari menu yang sudah tersedia, lalu mengetikkan nick kawan Anda dengan siapa Anda ingin berbicara. Satu window akan disediakan untuk keperluan itu.
7. Berbicara dan memasukkan perintah
Perintah-perintah dan teks-teks diketikkan pada tempat yang sama. Perintah-perintah dalam IRC dimulai dengan tanda / (garis miring, slash). Jika Anda memiliki program seperti mIRC untuk Windows, beberapa perintahnya dapat dipilih dari menu-nya. Tetapi, sangatlah dianjurkan agar Anda mempelajari beberapa perintah-perintah dasar dalam IRC terlebih dahulu. Perhatikan spasi dan huruf besar saat Anda mengetikkan perintah-perintah tersebut. Semua perintah-perintah dasar dalam irc berlaku untuk semua client-client.
Beberapa contoh diberikan di bawah ini. Di sini, kita anggap bahwa nick Anda adalah “Walah”, dan Anda berada di channel “#gresikgaul”.
Kawan Anda, “Yuwbie_SID”, berada di channel “#gresikgaul” dengan Anda, dan kawan Anda yang lain, “^OlIve^”, sedang berada dalam IRC tetapi tidak dalam channel yang sama dengan Anda. Digital Mark Reader adalah inovasi terbaru dalam memasukkan data ke dalam sistem komputer. DMR "membaca" tanda pensil, pena, maupun spidol pada posisi-posisi tertentu yang telah ditentukan sebelumnya pada isian/form sebagai jawaban terhadap pertanyaan maupun penentuan pilihan dari daftar yang telah ada. Sistem pemasukan data DMR mengekstrak data berupa ada tidaknya tanda pada form yang telah diisi menjadi informasi yang lebih bermakna.

Teknologi DMR memungkinkan kecepatan tinggi dalam pembacaan data berjumlah banyak dan menyalurkan data tersebut ke komputer tanpa menggunakan keyboard. Proses lebih lengkapnya sebagai berikut:

DMR melakukan pemindaian terhadap form menggunakan alat pemindai/scanner biasa yang tersedia di pasaran, model flatbed maupun dengan feeder. Penggunaan alat pemindai yang memiliki feeder akan memperkecil waktu pemrosesan.
Data berupa citra digital yang sampai ke komputer selanjutnya disimpan dan dilakukan pendeteksian keberadaan tanda.

Kebutuhan akan sebuah editor untuk mengedit suatu teks pada shell adalah mutlak. Mulai dari membuat suatu file ataupun mengatur konfigurasi sistem membutuhkan alat edit. Vim merupakan salah satu editor teks yang handal yang digunakan hacker sejak dahulu kala.

Apa itu vim ?

vim adalah editor yang mempunyai kemampuan yang boleh disejajarkan dengan IDE walaupun bukan sebuah IDE. Editor ini bukan saja cocok untuk programmer tetapi juga buat pengguna komputer sehari-hari karena fasilitasnya yang begitu menarik dan juga tidak membutuhkan resource komputer yang tinggi.

Mengapa memilih vim ?

Alasan memilih Vim adalah editor ini berjalan di berbagai sistem operasi (window,unix,Amiga,VMS dll), memiliki banyak sekali fasilitas yang bukan hanya untuk penulisan kode-kode pemrograman namun juga bisa digunakan untuk kepentingan-kepentingan yang lain misalnya mengontrol musik dengan xmms, membaca dan mengirimkan email dengan plugin vimail, chating menggunakan plugin vmirc dan masih banyak lagi fasilitas yang fantatis dari sebuah teks editor. Perubahan yang mendasar dari vi menuju Vim yaitu multi level perintah undo , mendukung GUI mode, multi window , pewarnaan sintak , mendukung pengeditan berbagai bahasa pemrograman dan masih banyak lagi.
